What Are The Side Effects Of Nurofen Plus And Ibuprofen?
Question: I have been taking two nurofen plus per day (12.8mg codeine plus 200 mg ibuprofen per tablet) at night for several months for ongoing pain associated with endometriosis and ehlers danlos syndrome. I find it helps more than ibuprofen or naproxen in their own. Is this likely to cause me any long term issues at this dosage? I have not felt any need to increase the dose or take any during the day so I am not massively worried about addiction. It is more liver that I am concerned about.
I also should mention that I have hypermobility type not vascular eds. I eat healthily and I am a good weight (bmi 21.5). I drink moderately (half bottle red wine, on weekend nights, so 15 units per week roughly). I also take vitamin D and multivitamin. I work in medical research as a scientist spending hours at a microscope at times, which makes the joint and muscle pain worse. I have been taking pain relief at night because I notice the aching and monthly abdominal pain more at night.

Welcome to HCM. I am glad you asked the question, however at the dose and frequency, you are not prone to liver damage, the two things to watch out for are kidney failure and GI bleeding are the most common, and these are really associated with much higher doses. I hope this helps and good luck.
