What Are The Repercussions Of The Accidental Ingestion Of Teaspoon?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Nov 2015
Question: HI: Embarrassingly, I accidentally nearly swallowed a teaspoon, trying to duplicate the stunt from XXXXXXX Almighty when he produces a spoon from his mouth. The handle went down my throat and I choked it back up. Now It's been three days and my throat is still scratchy and horse. I'm concerned as I'm a voiceover artist. Besides vocal rest and fluids, are there any other suggestions (besides giving up stunt work)?

Brief Answer:
VL'Scopy. Medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Since you are a professional voice user, get professional help.

2. A throat examination and a Videolaryngoscopy (VL'Scopy) will help identify the area and severity of the of the injury as it has been only three days since the incident.

3. Anti inflammatory medication including steroids will speed up recovery. I am assuming that your voice is not very hoarse.

4. Upload images or a video of the Videolaryngoscopy for a better assessment.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
