default
Posted on Wed, 10 Dec 2014
Question: I am 45 my husband had vasectomy 13 years ago. Period was only a few days for several months then no period for past 2 months. I had symptoms of ovulation 1 week ago.
Yesterday I started to have a constant/burning/strange pain at belly button and to the right of belly button. Seems worse after i eat.

The pain increases if I strain, stretch or push on that area

Brief Answer:
Could be muscular pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. There are a number of causes for pain in the area you have mentioned(umbilical region). They are:
> Muscular spasm
> maldigestion
> Pelvic Inflammatory disease(PID)
> Appendicitis (initially pain occurs in umbilical region and then occurs in right lower abdomen)

Above mentioned causes can be ruled out by simple investigations like CBC, Urine complete examination & ultrasound abdomen/pelvis. If there is only muscular spasm or maldigestion then all your tests would turn out to be normal and you can take symptomatic treatment in that case which will relieve the symptoms. Pregnancy is unlikely as your husband had undergone vasectomy.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
