Question: My twenty-one year old daughter is sweet, smart, successful in college and internships (despite dyslexia), has wonderful friends, works part-time in a job she loves working with children, makes a new friend young to old wherever she goes, loves to travel, has Faith, and we love her so much. All that for this question and concern: She is 5'5 and weights about 175 (guessing). Everything I read "online" saids to NOT talk to her about it, that she knows, that it's her body, she will need to decide when to address her weight, etc.... Yes, my concern is her weight , possible related physical health issues to come (none that we know of yet), and when she began her professional job search possibly not being viewed as a top candidate for being "lazy or unhealthy". Is there really NOT anything I can do? We would offer her a trainer, nutritionist, gym, acupuncture, zumba, etc. if she wanted or asked. Her father and I do try to eat healthy at home, we run or walk daily, we pray together as a family, we share in many different ways how proud we are of her many accomplishments, etc

Brief Answer:
Convince her for dietary alteration with exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.

When one calculate the BMI, she is one weight. There are many causes of overweight like limited physical activity, sedentary live style, eating habits, alcoholism, hormonal imbalance like hypothyroidism etc.

Weight reduction is tedious job and most important factor being self motivation. I would suggest you to share your concern with your daughter.

Successful weight loss should remains a healthy, calorie-controlled diet combined with exercise. For successful, long-term weight loss, you must make permanent changes in your lifestyle and health habits.

I would have suggested you to set a realistic goal, like lose 1 to 2 pounds a week, for that you need to burn 500 to 1,000 calories more than you consume each day, through a lower calorie diet and regular exercise.
For this long-term changes in daily eating and exercise habits. To lose weight, you must use up more calories than you take in.

I would suggest you to convince her for dietary alteration with exercise and I advice not to go for the medicines initially.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

wish you good health. Take Care
