Please - I have been a pain patient for 12 years - Have severe hypopthyroidism taking .125 mcg Synthroid and then 60 mg. Armour BID (due to over exposure to radaitaion taking xrays with out a thyroid protector for 20 years at my job) I estimate approx. 20,000 xrays were taken, Consequently now the domino effect of this - hypothyroidism, high dose thyroid medication, low serotonin, chronic depression, high dose thyroid leading to quicker onset and deterioration of osteoarthritis, and now additional other medical problems in the mix. My back, klnees, ankles and shoulders are primary issues. Anyway, have seen 2 neurosurgeons, had acupuncture, seen a great back surgeon who determined me inoperable, had physical therapy, had a positive EMG, bone scans, MRIs and diagnostic radiographs by the hundreds taken of mu body over the past 10-15 years. Also sacroiliac joint disease and PTSD due to abusive marriage. I am on oral narcotic medication as a last resort as NSAIDS and Tylenol would soon lead to my demise after taking these for too long with the danger of gastrointestinal bleeding and/or cirrhosis. Back to the issue - I need a new pain doctor ASAP - my long time doctor is not longer practicing. I have worked for a pain doctor for 12 years and realize the politics and stigma attached to this area of medicine, BUT I need a new one and wondered of there is any advice to help me in attaining one. I do not care if they take my insurance. This will soon become an emergency. I have tapered 10% each month to try and decrease my doses, but I do seem to need these medications as I HAVE TRUE DOCUMENTED CHRONIC PAIN and 1) Cannot function if I cannot take them as I do not know how I will feel day to day 2) I am terrifed of withdrawal - I have tried Suboxone - but this does not alleviate the pain. Definiteiy not a situation I want to be in nor ever envisioned in my life. basically working a hard, physical job as a medical veterinary technician and taking xrays daily without no thyroid protection has caused this domino affect terrible pain and other issues II have been calling and complying for 4 days to local pain doctors, but mostly the ( drug-searching stigma) attached to pain patients makes it impossible for real patients to get the help they so desperately need.
