Posted on Sat, 27 Sep 2014
Question: Good Afternoon.
In the month of JAN-FEB.'2014 I was fitted with one ballooning and three stents. After that I had been taking the prescribed medicine. Now the present medicine being taken regularly is CLOPILET A 75 and ROSEDAY 10MG daily in the night after dinner and every morning I am also taking blood pressure medicine PROLOMET AM 50. Now I am taking fat free food after this process. My main problem I pais that my weight has come down from 68-69Kg to 63Kg and the main concern is that it may further reduce. Due to weight down my immune system is also becoming weak due to which I keep on experiencing from time to time some pain in the body especially on the left side. Sometimes I feel very low also due to my present condition. I belong to a middle class family and from time to time I had to carry out home jobs also as no one is there to assist me.I request to help me out with this problem and advice me as to what can be done to gain weight and stay fit.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Change you diet.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Looking at the medical history and present query, my opinion is as follows:

1. The main problem appears to be your diet. Fat is a very important component of the body. Importantly cholesterol is found in every cell wall of the body.

2. You can cut down on whole of fat. Saturated fats is required in minor amount, wheras unsaturated fats are very much required. The total fat intake should be <30% of the calories you take in and mostly should come from unsaturated fatty acids. Try to include salmon, almonds, peanut butter, avocados, olive oil, canola oil etc in your diet. It will help in improving good lipids and reduced further atherosclerosis.

3. The main reason for infection or reduced immunity is reduced protein and other nutritional vitamin and minerals. Try to include egg white, fish, red meat and nuts in your diet. It will improve your over all nutrition.

4. Along with all this moderate exercises and regular sleep is essential.
Drink good amount of water during daytime.
Continue other medications.

Your diet has gone too strict and it is affecting your body through various deficiencies. At present, due to malnutrition, you are loosing weight and having reduced immunity. You can cut down on carbohydrates, and increase protein and fat (<30%) in diet.

Improve your diet.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Brief Answer:
Vegeterian diet is good.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.

Your lipid level is perfect.

However, HDL requires a mild improvement. You can increase it with moderate exercises like walking, low carbohydrate, moderate protein and low fat diet.

You need not worry about saturated fat specifically as it is present in most of the food or gets converted in the body.

You need to concentrate on unsaturated fat, and sunflower oil is rich in it. You can continue with it. Also Rice XXXXXXX oil (saffola), or olive oil (or even olives) can be used to increase unsaturated fat. It is very good for the heart.

Almonds are very good and you can take two servings every day, each consisting of 5-6 seeds.

Increase your protein intake through nuts, peas, soy beans, kidney beans, milk, yoghurt, etc. These will not only increase proteins, it will also increase important vitamins and minerals, which will improve your immune system.

Maintain with this for a month to improve good weight and immunity.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
