Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Itching And Foul Odor After Taking Metronidazole
Question: IM HAVING VAGINAL ITCHING AND IRRITATION WITH A SLIGHT FISHY SMELL AFTER TAKEN METRINIDAZOLE PILLS 500 MG. SHOULD I USE THE GEL FORM OF METRONIDAZOLE OR COULD IT BE SOMETHING ELSE?
AND I WAS TESTED FOR ANY STD THRU URINE BUT NOT A VAGINAL EXAM BY MY DOCTOR AND EVERYTHING WAS NEGATIVE BUT IM STILL HAVING VAGINAL ITCHING,IRRITATION,AND SLIGHT FISHY SMELL WITH A LITTLE BUMP

If the discharge is slightly yellow, with itching then it may be a yeast infection which can be treated with an over the counter anti fungal cream or ovules
If it is whitish gray with an odor then it may be due to bacterial vaginosis which is also treated with topical agents.
If there is a organism mixed with the mucus to cause a discharge, identification would require a swab to be done by your doctor.
You can use a vaginal pessary like Gyno Daktarin once a day for 2 weeks. Please follow the instructions on the package carefully.
It is also important to keep your private parts scrupulously clean. Trimming your pubic hair, not using any soap to wash your vagina and keeping the area clean and dry will help.
