Question: I had prostate cancer 13 years ago and prostate was removed. I was controlling incontinancy well until about a a year ago. Now I am going through several pads a day. Also I have had a recent sudden case of significant / stubborn constipation. Also in the past year some stools were orange and messy.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
needs some evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Though these symptoms may be unrelated to recurrence of cancer, going by your history I would recommend comprehensive evaluation. At least a colonoscopy and CT or MRI of pelvis.

Also an uroflowmetry is in order after which medicines to control incontinence can be prescribed. Till then appropriate laxative to ease the constipation.

Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
Regards

Thank you. The reason I am writing is that there seems to be a real blockage in the bowel. It kind of went "dead" suddenly. It is something that is new and like I said in the past, stools were messy and required a lot of cleaning after. I though the orange color was food and beta carotene pills, but does it sound like blood to you? I feel silly waiting 8 years for colonoscopy with my history. I have been a workaholic. Will the bowel be damaged by working in an office chair at a computer 5 days a week all day for 8 years? The abdomen has been pretty sore while being in the chair.

Brief Answer:
I don't think it is blood

Detailed Answer:
I also don't feel the bowel has been damaged by lifestyle. I guess colonoscopy will clear all doubts and then we can proceed accordingly.
