Brief Answer:
yes steroids, infection and stress all agravates diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Dear friend, greetings from HCM. Yes as you rightly pointed out the steroid, infection and all the stress has aggravated her sugar , now first thing is to contral the infection and later get all the investigation s done , as now it is very alarming sugar levels even with all treatment. One thing is that she should take higher doses of insulin , dose must be adjusted and tapered till the sugar levels comes to normal. As the infection and stress subsides later the control will be always better. Give her more of millets, oats, sprouts, vegetables and fruits. Give her more proteins and avoid carbohydrates. Let her exercise regularly, at least walk , meditate and practice yoga . All these lifestyle changes and with properly adjusted dose of insulin will definitely help meet your pulmonologist, and later diabetologist later . Thanks and do ask if any clarification.
