Suggest Treatment For Typhoid While On Cefolac

Question: Hello Sir, my daughter was diagnosed with typhoid in the month of July (9/07/2016)she was on antibiotics Cefolac -200 for 10 days.she has no fever or any other symptoms now.but wen we did the blood test on 26/10/2016 typhoid igm is positive and Widal test 1:80.how long it will be positive in the blood?

Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Widal as well as typhidot IGM may remain positive for several weeks to months after typhoid is gone. Moreover both these tests lack specificity and sensitivity.
Ideally the best test to diagnose typhoid fever is blood culture and then identifying salmonella bacteria but since TYPHIDOT test is fast and result readily available,it is used extensively.
If your daughter is fine and not having any fever,then forget about these results.

How long should I continue diet or can I give her normal diet.right now I am giving her oil less and spicy less food.wen can I start her with ghee and non veg.does the vaccination also makes igm positive.she was vaccinated with typhoid vaccine after 1 month of her feverI.e on 9/08/2016.
