Question: Hello Doctors,

I ma having IBS symptoms. My doctor has taken stool culture and sensitivity test. I am waiting for results. Could you please let me know will that test find out yeast infections in stomach as well or only the bacterial infections? and also will that test for blood in stool?

Hi and welcome.
These tests will check bacterial or parasitic bowel infections and sensitivity to certain food and it won't test blood in stool. Yeast infection of colon and bowel are extreme rarity and it is not tested either and it is not necessary. Occult stool blood test should be done for blood detection and I recommend it. if this is positive you should do colonoscopy. Wish you good health. Regards
