Please provide more information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I'd like to ask a couple of things to help me understand your situation better.
Do you feel acid backing up into your mouth?
Do you have trouble lying down right after a meal because of the acid going back from the stomach to the esophagus?
Or is it only a stomach pain? Do you feel pain under your lower ribs on the right?
Is it any different depending on the food?

If you're having regurgitation and it has been going on for long then I suggest an endoscopy to check for potential esophageal irritation. A proton pump inhibitor will help alleviate the symptoms and also protect sensitive areas of your esophagus. The dose will depend on the results of the endoscopic evaluation.

If you're only having stomach pain (or burning) then you can try a course of a proton pump inhibitor for a couple of months. If the symptoms won't go away or if they recur then endoscopic evaluation would be needed.

Endoscopy allows also to check for the presence of Helicobacter pylori, which predisposes for peptic ulcers and perhaps for other problems as well. If you've got Helicobacter pylori then you're going to need eradication treatment. Smoking and alcohol aggravate symptoms in either of the above conditions.

Please also note that there are other potential problems too. The gallbladder may cause similar symptoms even if you feel it's the stomach. So unless you find relief with the proton pump inhibitor, you should check the gallbladder with an ultrasound scan.

Until you have endoscopic or ultrasound results, I suggest you abstain from smoking and alcohol and avoid fatty food. You should start a proton pump inhibitor to see, if it relieves the symptoms, which can also help diagnostically.

I hope I've helped!
If you'd like further information, please let me know. I'll be glad to answer.

Kind Regards!
