Suggest Treatment For Soreness In Gums

default
Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: For a week I was in pain due to this sore that grew on my back gum. What was strange about it is it was sharp in the middle and it felt like a tooth or piece of bone. After a week te pain has subsided a lot but the hard piece is still there. I would swear it's. Piece of tooth mAking its way out. I've never had this happen before and I did have my wisdom teeth out 15 years ago. I had X-rays done at dentist three weeks ago and he didn't mention anything but maybe he missed it. What is this? I attached picture. There is no puss, but it is tooth colored and hard. I also had severe jaw pain for a few weeks leading up to this but I thought it was just my TMJ acting up.

Brief Answer:
traumatic ulcer, bony spicule, medication, radiograph

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
I have gone through the images which you have uploaded.
As far as the pain in the gums is concerned, i have two possibilities.
It can be a traumatic ulcer secondary to tooth brush trauma or trauma from the opposing tooth. The other possible cause can be a bony spicule. Nothing to be panic, consult a good oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to take a radiograph to confirm the diagnosis. Mean while you can use topical anesthetic like lignocaine and topical anesthetic like choline salicylate.
Once the radiograph is done and diagnosis is confirmed, it can be managed accordingly. Do saline gargling
I hope i have answered your query. If any queries are there reply me back.
Take care.
