Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache, Vomiting And Fever

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: Started not feeling well Saturday night. Sunday started with a severe headache, lots vomiting and a fever. Later some diarrhea. Today added a sore neck and dry heaves. Vomiting seems better, but still nauseous if she tries to eat crackers. Tonight added a rash on the stomach, one side. Weird part is as the rash moved down to the thigh on the same side, the stomach cleared up. Rash is not blisters. Looks like pink dome shaped humps the size of dimes. Very clustered, (unlike bug bites) no centers, no red spots, no blisters. Fever is back. 101F

Fever went away during the day and came back tonight. Resting all day, sipping fluid, nauseous, but managing to keep them down tonight.

She was exhausted, but not able to sleep, so when the rash appeared I gave her Benadryl because that always knocks her out.

Brief Answer:
This worries me about meningitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Severe headache, sore neck and vomiting worries me about meningitis.Sometimes skin infections, particularly viral can affect brain as well.

If it had been just skin infection or allergy , there should not have been systemic symptoms.

I would strongly recommend a visit to doctor sooner, even if it proves precautionary later.

Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.

She slept for 3 hours. Fever is gone. She has only a dull headache and her stomach feels better. She is alert and inching, covered in the rash and the bumps touch to create huge bloches.

It is not chickenpox nor poison ivy. It is bright pink. I am taking her to the doctor. I live in a poor part of the country and the doctors here are bad and misdiagnose everything.

If this is contagious, she probably should not be in a waiting room. do you think I should call ahead and tell them anything?

Brief Answer:
Call them before hand.Insist on seeing specialist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Sorry for delay in reply.I was XXXXXXX

Do call them before hand and avoid sitting in waiting room.

Also you can insist or try to convince them about seeing a infectious specialist or neurologist.

You can also try to get tests done rather than rely on doctors diagnosis.

Hope this helps.Regards.
