Brief Answer:
your hair loss is likely reversible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

There are many reasons in your case responsible for hair loss.

- B12 deficiency

- Vitamin D deficiency

- History of lithium and depression

- Typhoid one year back - which is the latest reason for more hair loss

Typhoid overall affects body nutrition and leads to hair loss. However this hair loss is reversible.

Lithium has stopped so no issue now.

You need supplements of vitamin B12 and vitamin D with b complex and zinc.

Please mention your age and send clear photographs of your scalp and hair from different angles so I can help more and guide you that consultation of dermatologist is needed or not.
You also need evaluation of thyroid hormone. Go for thyroid profile testing.

I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

My age is 20. How to send photographs to u dr? I hv eaten zinc and biotin supplements for three months previously for the same issue and a lot of medicines. Its only 2 months my med stopped. Can it be possible to treat with injections? It would be such a relief to go on injections.

Brief Answer:
likely it is male patterned baldness no need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for information.

Apart from above mentioned factors there is called male patterned baldness occurring after puberty and in early adulthood. In most of the males after age of 16 to age of 24 there is loss of hair in both side temporal region and also in frontal region. This is due to increased production of testosterone during adolescent. It is completely normal phenomenon and does not require treatment.

With factors mentioned in previous answer this male patterned baldness has affected your hair growth. No need to worry. Daily 50-100 hair loss is common.

You ca have vitamin B12 injections. Just ask your doctor for the same.
You can click clear photographs by yourself or with help of someone and there is option 'attach your reports/photograph' and you can send them with that. For assistance you can call customer care.

Hope this answers your concern.

And dr. I still dont have full facial hair. One dr suggested me it can be due to hormonal imbalance and to get testosterone level checked once. Is it necessary? I am currently on practin 2mg for loss of libido. + I am taking telmisartan 40 mg for bp issue. + vit d. But i dnt understand why i hv bp problem at 20. I got my blood chem reports. They were normal.

Brief Answer:
you need opinion of dermatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Vitamin B12(metycobylamine) injections(like neurokind plus, unicobal etc.) are available in market. 5 doses alternate day and then 5 doses weekly are required.

Thanks for clear photographs. Now I can say it is not only just male patterned baldness. It is alopecia.
Probably lithium, depression itself, B12 deficiency and typhoid have created more hair loss in your case. However hair loss due to these factors are of course reversible.

Thyroid evaluation (as hypothyroid is also side effect of lithium), serum testosterone and ferritin level are to be done.

In your case at this point opinion of dermatologist is must. Ask your psychiatrist to refer you to dermatologist and discuss whole your case.So proper diagnosis and treatment can be done fast.

All the best.

thyroid profile is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up.

Your thyroid profile is normal. But for reference value please upload the reports or write with units.

For oral vitamin B12 supplemts you can take MBSON SL, Folimax-12, Neurokind Plus or FDSON MP daily one tablet for 3 months. These are generic products.
In higher range you can choose Cognisule, Felicita OD, Nuhenz or Nervone forte. These all are multivitamins. One of them should be taken daily for 2 months.

Take care.
