Suggest Treatment For Severe Gastritis

Question: Hello I have been diagnosed with moderate to severe gastritis. I had a endoscopy last month and the biosys taken were all negative. I do have a non benign nodule on my esophagus. I was given 20 mg of omeprazole 1 daily. That hasn't done anything for me , I had to go to ER a few days ago because of the vomiting and nausea and they question my medication. I then went to see my primary Dr. who actually said that I was taking a 'baby dosage considering the level of my gastritis. I'm now on 60mg Dexilant which seems to be helping specifically reducing the metal taste in my mouth. I have no appetite and I'm losing weight 20lbs in 4.5 months. I been having pale colored stool lately kinda of light green. I mentioned all these symptoms to my Dr ans he said that it was classic with the level of gastritis i have,. I'm really worried about the stool color and no appetite. Should I insist on my pancreas, liver and gall bladder being checked ? Or is like my Dr said expected with my gastritis?

Brief Answer:
Test for Ultrasound abdomen, LFT

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

The treatment that was installed was standard for severe gastritis, up to 60mg dexilant.

In my opinion you should consider insisting to test for pancreas, liver and gallbladder with basic liver function, Serum amylase, serum lipase and abdominal ultrasound. I guess these should have been done already.

If the symptoms you mentioned were new then consider repeating them again.

Severe gastritis there can be some amount of blood oozing and expect brown or dark stool. Not the pale ones. Pale ones are seen in gall bladder duct
obstruction. Some medications like Bismuth given in gastritis can cause pale colored stools.

If I were your treating doctor I would get fresh set of symptoms.
