Question: Sir, my daughter age 4 years old and 13 kg weight has suffered from fever on 04.10.2016 evening. On next day 05.10.2016 we have taken the child to doctor and she prescribed Rinifol 5 ml twice a day, calpol 250 3.5ml SOS and metal P 3.5ml SOS. Also she told that after using the medicine child gets boils (bubbles like measles) and you give Alerid syrup 3.5ml.

After starting the above course fever reduced but after two days from 07.10.2016 child got boils on entire body and more on hand and foot fingers. We have used Alerid syrup but no use. Still the child off getting some boils on fingers and she is suffering like anything. By looking at the child our heart is broken.

I want to know what actually happened to my child. For an ordinary fever is Rinifol is suggestable? Now what I have to do to save my child. Is there any anti dose?

Please give solution to my problem.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Irrespective of use of antibiotics, it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days.

Rinifol is a vitamin supplement , contains Folic acid 5mg along with other essential vitamins. Although such medicines are frequently prescribed, they are not essential. I see no reason that the boils would occur. I am concerned about a condition called Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome (infective) which could be a possibility but clinical evaluation would be needed. Could you please upload an image?

I would await your response.

Sir

Find attached photo of my daughter foot fingers.
Please see the boils on fingers. After appearance of boils after 5-6 days they are blowing and reddish remains. Further earlier doctor has given rinifol dry syrup and not 5 mg tablets. Medicines used also attached.

Please suggest solution.Hi, I have provided some attachments. Please review them.

Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.

I have checked the attachments. Let me assure you that these are not boils. These are formed due to exfoliation of dead skin cells and due to excess keratinization. It is not a cause for concern. You need to give scrub bath to your child (scrubbing off properly with soap) using lukewarm water. Apply some emollients like aloe vera lotion and keep the skin hydrated properly. Do not worry, she would be fine.

You can feel free to give the medicine. It will probably not help, but would also not do any harm.
