Suggest Treatment For Severe Fatigue

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I have been a caregiver to my father the last 8 years where he has been in a nursing home. Have been under much stress during this time. I have experienced fatigue. When I wake up in the morning I do not feel rested even though I had a good deal of sleep. My allergies have worsened during this time. I have been on immunotherapy allergy treatments for a year and a half. Has the stress something to do with my symptoms?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Stress can certainly contribute to fatigue. In extreme forms, stress can lead to depression, which can be very tiring, or anxiety, which may keep you awake at night. Do you feel anxious at night? Have you ever undergone a sleep study to rule out things like sleep apnea? Loratadine can sometimes be mildly sedating too.
