Suggest Treatment For Severe Depression
Question: Hello,
I am a 60 year old woman, happily married, with a teenage asperger's son. I cannot deal with the fact that we
have no other family to help my son when my husband and I are gone. My son is a loving but very shy person
and does not relate well at all with others. I know he will have to live in some type of care-house when my
husband and I are gone and I cannot see him able to handle it.
Meanwhile, I love my husband and son but I cannot get out of bed anymore and often wish I were dead.
I know I will never commit suicide because I do not want to cause my loved ones any pain. I also have a hard
time making myself take a shower or even brush my teeth. I see a psychiatrist and am honest with him.
I have other family issues including the fact that that I was sexually abused as a small child and my mother
refused to believe me. I understand that there is something severely wrong with me and do not wish to be
"Put away" for therapy because my husband needs me at home to at least be with our child.
I currently take Pristique and Xanax and at least I do not have side affects from them.
Can you give me some suggestions? I think agoraphobia is an additional issue.
I have a degree in psychology and additional master's degrees but none of this seems to help.
I need to be available to help my chil and husband. Please help me.

I can understand your concern for your son . but why do you think you will die so soon? There is a law of compensation in nature where if God takes away something, He will give something extra so May be you live a healthy life for another 40 years. This should be a strong motivation for you to take care of your own health as well as your husband. Presently you seem to have significant Depression and may need increase in dose of Pristique. Itcan be raised to maximum of 150-200 mg , on advice of your doctor.
Regarding your son, he is very lucky to be blessed with a mother who cares so much. You should try as best as possible to teach basic skills to him and who knows? some patients do reasonably well. Our great holy book XXXXXXX Bhagwat XXXXXXX says" Do the best you can do ( karma) ,leave everything else to God because everything in the world happens by His wish only."

Thank for your advice. Please help me. I am taking 100 mg. Pristique, 0.5mg. Xanax, 1900 mg. Gralise (for chronic shingles pain in eye). I am so unhappy.
But I must be here to help my son and husband. I am so worried that I cannot
Get out of bed anymore and that I am afraid to take a bath. Is there hope for
me? I do not want to live but I need to help those I love.
