Question: Hello Dr XXXXXXX

Here I come again. My wife has started with Vit-D & Vit-B12 tablets as suggested by you.

After starting the tablets, she is not regularly passing the motion. Can it be because of vitamin tablets started recently? We have also moved to a new location last week. Can it be because of that also due to change in water?
Can you suggest some tablets or home remedy for constipation problem in general?

Regards
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Normally both do not cause constipation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX nice hearing from you.

I was out of circulation for a couple of days. Normally both do not cause constipation, but indirectly, because of gastritis in some cases there can be gas build up and interference in passing stools, especially in those who are prone to constipation. Rarely, vitamin D in very high doses can cause high calcium levels which can lead to constipation. But that cannot be a factor in your case. So if there is gas build up you can try giving something like Gellucil MPS. But if there is no gas, please try a soluble isabgol like Naturolax, one scoopful in one big glass of water at night. Constipation may be a temporary problem and should become all right. Please revert back with follow up.

Take care.
