Question: Hi , I and my wife were treated for fungus infections 2-3 months back. It was flucanzole for both of us and candid B for me. This was as I was getting cuts in my foreskin. Now it has again started but intensity is less, may be its developing, I have noticed, it happens after her periods. Should we start flucazole again? what dosage? Which vaginal pessary is good? Does she needs to also apply any cream?

Brief Answer: Predisposing factors looked for.Adequate treatment Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting your query. Relapse of genital moniliasis (yeast infection) is common with inadequate doses. If any one of the partner has any predisposing factor for Fungal infection like Diabetes mallitus, prolonged antibiotic therapy, Metranidazole, steroids, some other immunosuppressive drugs like cancer drugs or hormone therapy (oral contraceptives) etc., then it has to be controlled or corrected or removed as far as possible to get a total cure. If there is candidal infection in any other parts of body like skin, gut, nail it may also be a source of reinfection and the same has to be treated. Flucanazole 150 mg weekly once for not less than 4 weeks along with topical clotrimazole cream or vaginal pessary ensures the cure.Application of Clotrimazole topical cream for your wife is also an additional measure to ensure a complete cure. Abstinence from sex during the course of treatment and few intercourse after treatment with the application of clotrimazloe cream all lead to better results. Dr S.Murugan

Brief Answer: Combination of pessary and topical cream work well Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome back. As per policy of Health care Magic, one should not give any prescription or comments about the commercial products. If at all we can suggest only generic name of the drug. Clotrimazole cream without a steroid is the right choice when your diagnosis is specific and correct. Likewise pessary will take care of the inner aspect of female genital lining while the topical cream will take care of the outer aspect of genitals. So a combination is always better than either given alone. Always take treatment only after having been examined and investigated with laboratory test and as per the guidance of your physician on the basis of outcome the results. Dr S.Murugan
