Suggest Treatment For Relapse Of Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma
Question: My husband was diagnosed with AITL in XXXXXXX 2016, then went into spontaneous remission until August 30, 2016. He started EPOCH in hospital on September 8, 2016 and completed the 6 rounds in February 2017. He responded very well to the chemo from the start and showed complete remission on a PET scan on February 27 2017. He has 2 small lumps on the side of his neck which one doctor (primary) feels is scar tissue as his nodes were extraordinarily large in that region in the beginning and they right above where he had a large lymph node removed for biopsy in January 2016. His stem cell doctor however is extremely concerned and wants another PET scan before his stem cell implant. There are no other swollen nodes upon examination. Would the lymphoma be back so quickly after the PET scan showed complete remission 8 weeks ago?

Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So angioimmunoblastic lymphoma although slow growing, can come back rapidly as it is a t cell lymphoma. A petct is the best modality to look for it and if suspicious a biopsy can be taken to confirm it. However, it is uncommon to come back early but any cancer can behave bizarre.
