Posted on Sat, 5 Apr 2014
Question: I went to the doctor last month for symptoms I'm having now and was told I had a severe yeast infection. But this month the symptoms have come back as bad as they were before. odorless yellow thick discharge. Very swollen vagina very very dry skin on the clitorus and the vaginal opening. I'm very nervous and have no idea how to cure myself. Please help.

Brief Answer: EXPLAINED BELOW Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. It appears as if you are having a lingering persistent / recurrent yeast infection. The picture is again suggestive of vaginal infection. Please do not even try to cure yourself. You need to have a vaginal swab taken and culture done to confirm the type and severity of infection. Based on the result of the swab, appropriate treatment would be given. For a severe / recurrent infection, oral antifungals for some days would be required in addition to vaginal antifungal suppositories and ointments. Also have your blood sugars tested to check for diabetes. Do not take any antibiotics. Do not use vaginal soaps, gels, cleansers, etc, as they can deplete normal vaginal flora and alter the pH, predisposing to infections. Wear clean dry undergarments and change frequently. Apply local Neosporin dusting powder. Clean the area with plain lukewarm water and XXXXXXX dry gently with linen towel. All the best Please feel free to discuss further.
