Question: I am 69 year old woman and am having a chest cold which started 4 days ago. I also have post nasal drip. The cough and my voice sound croupy now. No fever but coughing up some greenish phlem is difficult. I am taking Mucinex tablets. Is there a need to see a doctor. I also had shingles which got better 1 month ago.

Brief Answer:
You are most probably having upper respiratory track infection (URTI)

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.

After reading your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having
upper respiratory track infection (URTI) going into Lower respiratory track infection (LRTI) .

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , I would advice
consult your Doctor .
Till then i would advice ,
Warm salt water gargles thrice daily ,
Saline nasal rinse thrice daily ,
Antihistaminic Tab Claritin (Loratadine 10mg) at night &
continue tylenol , Mucinex tablets & Vitamin C.

You will get relief .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Regards.
