Posted on Mon, 23 Oct 2017
Question: I am getting this pain on my left knee cap. I haven't received any injury as such. The pain started coming from yesterday night. Previous day, I had taken stairs of 4 floors, since the office lift was not working. Maybe this caused this to happen, but I am not sure.

Brief Answer:
Anterior knee pain ,could be the beginning of osteoarthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon.
doing by the description , it appears that you are having anterior knee pain. This is a common condition at this age and clinically, is the beginning of Osteoarthritis. Climbing stairs / prolonged sitting could be one the provoking factor.
In my practice , for this I start pain killers , and Knee exercises for 2-3 weeks and later on only knee exercises. Purpose is to strengthen the knee muscles so that osteoarthritis is delayed.
If you don't feel improvement in a week ,then I would recommend x rays of both knee joint.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
