Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
Question: Hi. I fell on my back - left shoulderblade against a door. When this happened the pain was crusial I thought I might have broken the bottom of my shoulderblade. There was no bruising but a little swollen. Days later it continued to hurt and I couldn't raise my hand past a 40 degree angle. It was too painful. Its been over a week and the pain is still there. When I cough or laugh it hurts very bad on top of my shoulder. When I sneeze it is miserable almost unbearable pain.

Brief Answer:
Get an x-ray done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

It could be fracture or soft tissue injury.I suggest you to get an xray of shoulder done for any bony injury. If there is no bony injury then you might need a MRI for soft tissue injury.

Meanwhile give rest to your shoulder. Take antiinflammatory drug like ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting weight and rest well.

Hope this helps you.

Warm regards...
