Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2015
Question: Dear Dr Rynne,

I have blocked nose but no other cold or flu symptoms and am scheduled to have a surgery under GA in 2 days. I hope this will not mean that the surgery will have to be postponed? I feel completely healthy other than the nasal congestion.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
should not interfere with surgery

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your healthcare concerns

You are schedule for surgery in 2 days and today you have nasal congestion. As long as you are not infectious with a cold or flu you should be able to have surgery. THen nasal congestion maybe allergy and not cause problems. If tomorrow you start developing cough and congestion I recommend you cal your surgeon and postpone the surgery until you are feeling better.
