Brief Answer:
Bilateral macular degenaration with cataract.

Detailed Answer:
In macular degeneration dry type generally there is a bilateral involvement but affects one eye and then affects the other eye. It affects aged person above 60 years. There is gradual diminution of vision. Patient will have low vision and difficulty while reading or driving. There will be blurring of vision.

As the affected eye's history of vision before cataract is not known, so it is not possible to predict post operative vision. There is thinning of macula in dry degeneration and no specific treatment available for such degeneration. You can take antioxidant diet like carrot, tomato ginger and omega 6r ich food like sardine fish and in fruits can take banana. Low visual aid can be of great help. Counseling for maintaining day today activities are required.
For cataract surgery the eye with less distant and near vision to be selected and post operative vision assessed. If it is reasonably good then the other eye for the cataract surgery can be selected after 6 months.
