Suggest Treatment For Lumps On Left Side Of Vagina Opening

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jan 2015
Question: Recently had two boils on my labia but now have found a larger lump to the left of vaginal opening (image attached) it is quite painful and has bled a little. Its not dry and no lumps have turned into blisters. Upon investigating i noticed smaller bumps along the inside of my vagina (Also in the pictures) and am worried these could be genital warts or some kind of std. They are not painful or itchy and im not sure whether tgey are just the normal texture of skin or not. I am currently taking antibiotic azithromycin for an infection.

Brief Answer:
Not due to warts. STDs Unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
I have gone through the photos and description.

The lesions inside vagina may be due to irritation or friction.

The outer lesion could be due to folliculitis or sebaceous glands enlargement. These may be due to irritation or friction or close shaving of hairs.

It is unlikely to be due to STDs and it is not due to warts.
You can continue antibiotic. Clean area with warm water twice daily. See that there is no friction or irritation.

You can please get back with details of intercourse history , partner history if any, duration of lesions, any symptoms, any other diseases , investigation reports if any, treatment details, etc.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you

Thank you. I have only had unprotected sex with one sexual partner recently. Prior to this i have had 3 secual partners but have always used a condom. I have no previous infections but the bumps have been reocurring for some years. It is only that this one is larger and a little more painful. I believe it has come up after intercourse on sunday. I should avoid any intercourse until they are gone?

Brief Answer:
Better to avoid intercourse.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

It is unlikely to be due to STDs.
It is likely to be folliculitis as it is recurrent.
Do not trim hair too short. The in growing hairs may be also the reason.
It may be due to rubbing or friction.

It is better to avoid intercourse for now as it can cause friction.

You can use topical antibiotics like mupirocin cream. Continue the oral antibiotics. If it painful antiinflammatory analgesic like brufen can be taken after food.

It is better to use condoms if either of partners have multiple partners.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
