Question: Hello doctor, My son is 1 year and 3 months old. He is again facing teething trouble. I am giving him homeopathic medicine bio combination- 21. He is having loose motions as well as vomiting. His born weight is 2.25 kg and currently he weighs 7.8 kgs. He is not opening mouth for solids. He is only taking milk. Earlier I gave him nor metrogyl for loose motions. So should give him the same medication this time? Please assist me. Thanks XXXX

Brief Answer: relax. Detailed Answer: Hi. Thanks for your query. I understand your concern. Relax,there is nothing to worry. Acute gastroenteritis is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days. Antibiotic is to be given only in case of bacterial infection. Most important is to maintain and monitor hydration. Give ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) after each loose stool. Give a probiotic for few days Give lemonade,coconut water,curd,banana,boiled potato,rice porridge. In case of persistant vomiting give anti emetic like ondensteron or domperidone as per dosage. Watch for features of dehydration like decreased urine output/lethargy/irritability. In case you observe any get him evaluated by pediatrician for further management. Hope I have answered your query.
