Suggest Treatment For Left-sided Traumatic Sixth And Seventh Nerve Palsy After Injury

Question: I am from XXXXX. Last one week before i have a accident and that time i don't remember last 2 hours. After getting treatment my one eyes rotate properly and one left eye in straight view. How to solve this pls help me.

I can understand your concern. You had concussion type of head injury. Regarding your eye complaint, I need more information

- Do your eyes always remain in abnormal position?

- Is there any movement restriction in particular direction like superior/inferior/lateral/medial?

- Is there any history of cranial nerve palsy of 3rd, 4th or 6th? If any neurosurgeon mentioned about it, please let me know.

- Can you please send me the photograph of your eyes?

Thank you very much for providing me the information. I have gone through your reports. According to it, you are having traumatic sixth and seventh nerve palsy, left side. Sixth nerve is required to move eye outward. Because of it, you are not able to move your left eye, left extreme side. I think you have recovered from seventh nerve palsy as your face seems symmetrical. It is very good for you.

Now coming to traumatic sixth nerve palsy, prognosis is good as you have recovered from 7th nerve palsy. You need to follow regularly up till 6 months. During this time, most of the spontaneous recovery occurs. If still there is some deficit -

- You can ask for prism glasses to correct the double vision.

- If cosmetically unacceptable, you can consult squint specialist ophthalmologist for left lateral rectus (eye muscle) resection and adjustment to correct your squint.

I hope you will recover in next 6 months. Regularly exercise your eye muscles. It will help in regaining function rapidly. If you need any more help, do let me know.

Dear Doctor,

It is recover time to take 6 months, can it is recovery before as any treatment. And also E.N.T Doctor Said your ear nerves are broken or crack and mouth going to side and said. If doctor said after one week mouth went right side. And also inform go to physiotherapy regularly to recovery and said.

Yes, the recovery time is 6 months. The maximum recovery is in 6 months. Your nerve can also recover before it.

Your ENT doctor mentioned that because of your facial nerve palsy. The regular physiotherapy of face can correct the deformity. You can also take nerve specific vitamin like B12, B6, thiamine, Pantothenic acid, folic acid. It will also fasten the recovery. Rest hope for the best. No surgical intervention is needed at this time.
