Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: Hi since i had my daughter 2yrs 9monthd ago i have been bleeding. They tried for 18months with the inplant and different contraceptive pills. They didnt work so the took the implant out amd tried the pill again. Then XXXXXXX last year they put the coil in which worked. The only thing is i have no interest in sex whatsoever and me and my boyfriend would like to try for kids but the doctor told me that if i got rhe coil out it would go back to the way it was before. Is there anthing that i can do to stop the bleeding. Thwme doctors dont even know whats causing it in the first place. And i would really like another child.

Brief Answer:
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
From the history it seems that you are having Dysfunctional uterine bleeding. The irregular and heavy bleeding that you are having can be due to uterine fibroids, polyps or hormonal disturbances. For diagnosis, you need to have an ultrasound scan of your lower abdomen and some blood tests.
Laboratory assessment of hemoglobin, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), prolactin, T4, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and androgen profile can be done.
If you want to conceive then you will have to take progesterone to stabilize the endometrium and once the cycles become regular try for conception. You can consult your gynecologist for proper therapy after the investigations.
