Question: Hi,
I am 25 yrs old and unmarried. I have had irregular periods for over a yr. After consulting my doctor I had few scans and thyroid test. But everythng is normal. But i had just blood droplets coming fr over a month. So the doctor put me in medication with Cycloset and Ferromega tablet for 6 mnths and novelon for 4 mnths. When I completed Novelon 21 tablet strip I got my periods exactly after 7 days. Now after completion of the 2nd strip I got my periods exactly after 7 days but its only droplets of blood again. What should I do? Is it normal? Should I wait fr another week and then see my doctor?? Pls help me..

Brief Answer:
This is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and what I understood from query is: You have irregular periods for one year, consulted doctor, tests done which came normal and doctor advised Cylcoset and ferromega for 6 months and Novelon for 4 months. You had one strip of novelon and got periods after 7 days and had one more strip in next cycle and got droplets of bleed”.

My answers to your queries:

1. This is normal to have droplet of blood as periods after being on Novelon.

2. There is nothing to worry about as this is normal process.

3. As long as the droplet of blood continues to come for a month as before, nothing needs to be done.

4. Continue with medicines as per your doctor's advice. No need to see doctor.

I hope your doubt is clarified. Let me know if you wish any other information.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya

Can i know what may be the possible cause of bleeding in droplet form

Brief Answer:
Bleeding in droplet due to endometrial shedding variation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Basically the menstrual blood contains shed endometrium from the uterus.

This shed endometrium comes out with blood as menstrual bleeding.

When there is less endometrium build up ( as in women taking novelon), it is common to have droplet form bleeding and it is common.

Dont worry about it.
