Brief Answer:
will explain you

Detailed Answer:
Hai,
Thanks for consulting us.
Iin ayurveda we use to prescribed eclipta XXXXXXX (bhringaraj) for liver disease.
as eclipta XXXXXXX is a proven medicine for liver disorder. it will regularize the liver function as well as the XXXXXXX acid level and other parameters (SGOT,SGPT).For hepatic cholestasis in ayurveda we also prescribe natural iron(purified form).(aya chendooram).

both the eclipta XXXXXXX powder and iron(aya chendooram) is considered to be safe for cholestasis along with some diet restriction. the above medication shows good results.

but it was not studied in pregnant women.

However eclipta XXXXXXX is very safe medicine,In XXXXXXX pregnant women use to take the plant leaves in their routine diet.

kindly visit a local ayurvedic doctor to take further opinion and advise in person. so that physician can assess you properly and guide you.

Thanks and regards

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX .

I'm not in XXXXXXX now so won't be able to consult an Ayurvedic physician..

When you say bhringraj you mean karisalankanni with yellow flowers right.. Can you please tell me the dosage for fresh leaves and the powdered form during pregnancy

If I don't get that, are there any safer supplements.. Here I get liv 52.. Can they be taken during pregnancy?

Also can keezhanelli be taken during pregnancy?? If so please tell me this dosage too..

As far as diet, I avoided all fats, sugar, spice and just little salt. I am taking moong dal and rice with steamed vegetables all three times and one apple... But the bad thing is baby's weight is very low..
How can I have a diet safe for both liver and baby

Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
bhringaraj is karisalankanni

Detailed Answer:
Hai,
Thanks for your reply.

karisalankanni is right.

You can take leaves in cooked form.100g. Wash the leaves and cook it added with pepper and salt. Serve it in afternoon.

if it is powder form-3g twice a day.

Liv 52 contains kasani and caper bush which is good for liver functions.

You can take that during pregnancy.

Karisalankanni is used as food supplement in daily routine south XXXXXXX diet. So you can take leaves as food 100g (cooked). No harm in it.

There is no form of medication I suggested. Everything is food supplement.
Go ahead and get back to me if there any clarification.

Weight gain related to you and your baby really tough to answer. As fat foods are restricted. You can take nuts rich in protein.(limited).
During the episode of Cholestasis general advice is to restrict high calorie foods. Try manage with the allowed foods.

Thank you.

sorry missed asking this. Can i use coconut in little quantities?
Is wheat and barley fine for liver in ayurveda? in english medicine they are telling to avoid as it has gluten. I'm not sure to take or not?

Answered by Dr. Senthilnathan Subramanian (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
let me explain

Detailed Answer:
Hai,

Coconut is not allowed. Tender coconut is allowed.

As regarding wheat and barley seems to pitta virya(produces heat(usnam)to the body). so normally we use to avoid them in such condition like liver abnormality.
but as regarding your problem, i suggest go with mixed grains like wheat with kambu and jeera. so that it will neutralize pitta.

normally we don't suggest wheat while problem in liver associated problem as it is the organ while metabolise the ingested food.
once it becoming contradicted, kindly avoid barley and wheat.

Hope i answered your query

Brief Answer:
clarification given below

Detailed Answer:

Hai,

1) I'm little confused. When you say it becomes contraindicated avoid wheat and barley, I should not have it now for cholestasis or can i have? Also other points in the diet suggested can be taken for cholestasis right:

Do not use whole wheat and barley. i suggested to go head with small amount of wheat with other grains like kambu, maize etc. you try with the mixed grain combination to support your stamina. if it suits continue. otherwise withdraw the small amount of wheat too.however if you can manage without wheat and barley that is well appreciated.

2) Should i take juice of amla and add in water and drink once a day? or throughout the day?

you can take twice aday.

3) Are you suggesting to avoid gram dal or take it.. gram dal is channa dal / chickpeas right? or moong dal?

i am suggesting you take moong dal.

4) Can we take keezhanelli or bhumyamalaki during pregnancy?

yes you can take. i already mentioned the amount.

5) Can you suggest some food remedy for constipation and improving iron.
im taking fruits and vegetables, but the relief isnt good.
Dates, pomegranate, green leaves, palm jaggery are good source of iron.as non veg is restricted for your condition you have to a manage with this items.
more fiber containing vegetables and fruits like grapes, clustered beans, okra, cucumber, green leaves, orange will help in clearing constipation.

hope i answered your query

Thanks dr. Sorry but you indicated the dosage only for karisalankanni.. Not for keezhanelli...

Also is it safe to take multiple supplements for liver? Like have liv 52 tablets and karisalankani powder??

Sorry for the many questions but you have been really helpful setting up a diet in this tough situation

Brief Answer:
Take either karisalankanni or keelanelli

Detailed Answer:
Hai,
I understand your situation. It will be really anxious to go about it.
Be stress free and calm. stress is a major factor will harm you and your baby.

Let me explain.

take karisankanni powder 2 to 3g twice a day after food and
Liv 52 - 2 tablet in the afternoon ---this scheduled medication is enough.

either you take karisalankanni or keelanelli.

Dont confuse with all the option.both are good choice.

If you are going to take keelanelli powder, that remains the same dosage - 2 to 3g powder twice a day after food along with liv52 -2 tablet in the afternoon.

You can get back to me if there any clarification. I am there to guide you.

Hope i answered
