Suggest Treatment For Infected And Inflamed Wound After Cyst Removal

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, my name is XXXX, I'm from Sydney. I had a cyst removed from my face last Friday 28/11 and after 2 days there was a fluid coming out with a little bit of blood. My Dr. said the cyst was very deep inside my cheek and that he had to send to biopsy because doesn't look like a sebaceous cyst . I went back yesterday on 04/12. Around the stitches was inflamed and very hard skin when you touch. He removed some of the stitches and squeeze some of the fluid out. I had to change the antibiotic, maybe the other one was not strong enought and the Dr. prescribed me ciproxin and bactroban ointment twice a day. The fluid keep coming out and still looks like is inflamed. It's been one week already and I think didn't heal properly. Im feeling very worried about my health. Can I use hot compress over the inflamed wound? What am I supposed to do? I'm going back to removed the stitches on Monday 08/12. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Start taking antioedema treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

I suggest you to start antioedema treatment which includes taking aceclofenac with serratiopeptidase or trypsin, chymotrypsin combinations. These are prescription drugs. You may discuss this with your doctor. These will reduce inflammation and also the fluid secretion and helps healing.

Yes, you may use hot compression but see to it that it shouldn't be too hot to burn the skin. It should be moderate temperature and you shouldn't keep for long time on one place.

If the fluid discharge is not clear or thin blood mixed then you may need to get it tested i.e., culture and sensitivity to find out sensitive antibiotics. If discharge is reduced after ciproxin then no need for this test.

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.
