Question: Hi Doctor,

I am having headache from last 4-5 months. I used to have light headaches before too but that used to go away if I sleep properly and take rest. Now, I am not able to concentrate on my work and not able to stare laptop for long hours. I consulted eye specialist and am using anti-glare coating spectacles and I got +0.25,+0.25 point, but I that not helping much. I feel heavy head uncomfortable whole day, especially on backside of head. I feel like itching on back side of my head sometimes. I do have some work pressure. I am not getting heavy sleep nowadays. If I don't see laptop and stay away from work and take rest I will feel bit better. Early morning I feel good but as my work day progresses I slowly start feeling headache, especially evening time and it stays for around an hour or two ,after that I feel bit better if I stay away from laptop.

I consulted neurologist few weeks back, he examined and said its a tension type headache and put me on amiton for 2 months. I had few discussion with you last time too. This is the thread.

I had small hit on my head 2 times around 5 months and a year back. I am very much worried whether these minor hits causing this headache. Can you please clarify does minor hits on head cause any serious damage after passing 5 months.
I already had a CT Scan a year back, which was normal. Now, I am bit worried to go for another scan or MRI just to reassure myself this headache is not because of my minor head hits.

I would be very grateful, if you help me understanding this situation.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Headaches seem to be of tension type.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr Siva,

Thank you for getting back.

I have noted your current symptoms. It is unfortunate to note that your headaches are persisting.

I know you are anxious, however, I would like to reassure you that these are not serious, and headaches in your case are most likely due to tension headaches.

Minor head injuries or hits would not lead to any serious problem. In any case, your CT scan was normal earlier. There is no need, however, to reassure yourself, you can go for an MRI scan of brain.

Amitone is correct medicine. The alternative medicine is prothiaden tablets.

Best wishes,
