Question: Hi, I'm 29 year old male. Weigh around 80 kg. Height 5 feet 9 inch. I have been diagnosed by sinus tachycardia multiple times in last 4 months. I have taken multiple ECG, all showing everything normal but high heart rate. As high as 130 BPM. At times my heart rate is around 90 BPM. I did 2d echo and everything was normal. They did my thyroid, random blood sugar, and other electrolyte tests. Everything normal. I have shown this to multiple cardiologists. Everyone said its normal and probably due to anxiety. I do feel heavy chest and sometimes very very mild pain in left side of chest. They gave me anxiety pills, still when I wake up in the morning my heart rate stays around 100 BPM and at times goes to 120. This is affecting my normal life as I keep checking my heart rate every now and then.

I'm little asthamatic and use to take a pump foracort quite regularly (4-5 times a day).
But now I have stopped using it for last 2 months as my doctors said that could be it, instead I use budosonide only when required (2-3 times a week). Still it continues to trouble in the same way. I use to drink lot of coffee but I stoped that as well completely for last 2 months.

I have few questions.

1) can there be anything else then what has already been tested causing it?

2) one of the arrthmia specialist said I can not have inappropriate sinus tachycardia as my heart rate comes down to 80-90 sometimes. Its 80-90 for couple of days and then increases again to 90-110. Is it true.

3) can I excersize safely?

4) what should I do to cure it? I'm already planning yoga.

5) My doctors have told me its not life threatening. Is it true?

6) could you please let me know any immideate things I should do at the time of palpatations.?

Brief Answer:
Looks like benign tachycardia don't have to worry

Detailed Answer:

It looks like you have inappropriate sinus tachycardia and there must have been slight misunderstanding of what arrhythmia specialist said. Because it can be normal at times, looking at the description given by you it doesn't look like life threatening.

If too much of symptoms you need to start taking beta blockers.

Yes life style measure such as regular exercise and yoga do help you. Please start yoga and continue with exercise.

There doesn't seem to be anything missing

Thank you so much for replying Doctor.

I have started taking Concor 2.5 as prescribed by my doctor. Once a day in morning, for a month.

Is it a safe medicine? It should not cause complications in future. Thanks in advance.
