Question: I have high blood preassure since 4 years and am 48 years old, i was prescribed Amlopres5 which i have been taking soon after dinner along with diabetes medicine cetapin 500 ...my blood preasuure has reached 105/156 and pulse is 107... Kindly suggest if i need to increase my dosage or change the medicine as my eating habbits are pretty bad, i m trying to control that as well

Medications are not the only measures in BP control. First line of management is life style modifications , which includes regular exercise, diet control and then meditations. Many of my patients do get there BP controlled with these life style modifications. I recommend that you find ways to regulate lifestyle and diet.
Now since your BP is not controlled I would suggest that you add another antihypertensive instead of increasing amlopress. For my patients I usually advice ARB group of drugs like telmisartan or losartan. Discuss with your prescribing doctor for dose and frequency.
Besides this, I also find you have marginally higher Hba1c level. I insist that you work thoroughly with your doctor and get it back to stable limits (below 6.5).
