Suggest Treatment For Herpes Simplex

Question: About 25 years ago, my first husband was diagnosed with HSV2. We divorced, and I was never tested, although I did have what I thought was an outbreak on one occasion shortly after my divorce. No outbreaks since then or at least none that i was aware of. About two weeks ago, I began to feel pain and pressure in my lower abdomen and genital area, a burning feeling that felt like cystitis (which I have had often), backache, fever, flu-like feeling, mild sore throat, nausea, no appetite, and a very slight clear vaginal discharge. I also had what I thought was an inflamed hemorrhoid. No lesions or itching. I have been having aggressive sex with a partner for about a year. For some reason, i thought about the possibility of herpes infection, so i went to the doctor. I had an HSV2 titer, which came back positive. He put me on Acyclovir before the test came back, mainly because I was so distraught, but he said he didn't believe i was having an outbreak. I took the meds for the 7 days and felt better, but still had a few symptoms, like the low pain and very slight discharge and just a feeling that something was not right in my genital tract. Two days after I stopped the meds, the symptoms came back. I went back to the doctor but still no lesions. He checked my area where the hemorrhoid was but saw nothing that he thought resembled a lesion. He did find that I had some build up of stool in my colon and is treating me for that. I still have the discharge, often feel like I can actually feel the oozing of the discharge, and slight burning feeling, and just feel like something is not right. But no lesion at all. No sore spots. I don't know if I am just freaking out about this and imagining these things. I also do not know if I may have had an active shedding phase and given it to my partner. Is it possible that I could be having an outbreak for the past 2-3 weeks and NEVER develop a lesion, or if the acyclovir is simply keeping the lesions from forming but not getting rid of the other symptoms? Or am i being a hypochondriac?

Brief Answer:
You are thinking too much about it. Not to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HealthCare magic. Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.

I have gone through the entire post in details.

No need to worry about the Acyclovir . It will take care of the Herpes simplex.

WHat I would suggest you is

- Avoid having sex for a few days
- Drink loads of water
- I would start tablet Metronidazole , tablet Fluconazole - this will take care of the discharge
- Apply Candid-V gel locally - this will reduce the burning sensation
- Get a routine urine examination and blood Total leukocyte count done.

Do not worry much.

Hope this helps.
