Suggest Treatment For Hepatitis-C

Posted on Wed, 27 May 2015
Question: I know that when I was treated for HEP C a couple of years ago, the percentage rate was 70-90 percent of being cured. I'm sorry it didn't cure me, I even broke out in a bad rash from the interferon I received in shot, I'm curious if this new set of cures contains alot of that interferon. Also, I'd like to know if this new cure is going to be that 94-97 percent of being cured with my intake of Lamictol and Risperdol still be that 94-97? That'd be GREAT if it still means that!

Brief Answer:
Please Specify genotype and latest viral load

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The new treatment regimens for Hepatitis C including sofosbuvir and simeprivir , based on the genotype, have an excellent cure rate as compared to the older interferon, ribavirin combination treatments. The cure rate depends on the genotype in question and treatment experience. The side effects are also minimal with the new drugs.

Kindly answer the following to guide you further.

Please specify what your latest viral load on quantitative PCR ?
Have you had your HCV genotype done, if so what genotype of HCV are you infected with ?

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
