Suggest Treatment For Fullness Around The Vulva

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Jun 2015
Question: I had felt a fullness in the area around my vulva. No lumps noted. I saw my GYN and he ordered Clobetasol topical for 4 weeks. I feel this area is more irritated and there is an increase in vulvar itching. He said if this didn't work I would need a biopsy. I am very confused because the problem has increased after using this med. Any suggestions? I plan on calling him next week as he suggested but am going to stop the Clobetasol on my own.

Brief Answer:
Vulva irritation

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care questions

You recently developed an irritation on your vulva and saw your GYN. He was not sure what it was but started you on a steroid cream to see if it helped. It has not and the area is probably worse. He is now considering doing a biopsy of the area. This is probably a good idea. Women post-menopausal do not usually have problems with the vulva. With this type of irritation and he may have seen some changes to the vulva that requires closer observation. A biopsy would find a definitive answer and proper course of therapy

I agree with you to stop the clobetasol.

I believe you should follow up with your GYN. There is little else you can do at this time.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions and concerns
