Suggest Treatment For Frequent Vomiting Episodes In A Child

Question: My daughter has had vomiting issues for the last year and a half. it started shortly after turning 3. She never had food allergies. However after much trial and error we found that going gluten free, dairy free, low acid, no sugar we could manage it and the vomiting stopped. We can't 100% manage it though and it still happens, most recently after a 5 and a half month break from vomiting....the longest so far. When this began she was vomiting every 2 weeks until we figured out her diet.

I'm starting to wonder if a parasite or worm could be the culprit. I have been noticing her stool has had large black spots in it almost like raisins. She hasn't had anything of similar looking food that I could account for it and I have seen this in her stool many times over the last year. She has also had some short periods of light clay colored stool. 2 years ago or less she spent much time with a family member who unknowinly had giardia as well.

Any direction you can give would be much appreciated.

Brief Answer:
I would ask for a stool microscopy report

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have carefully gone through the details. The first thing that I would suggest is to get a stool microscopy done (I am not talking about previous reports). It will make it clear if worms are there. However, I do not think of worms to be a cause of the problems. Malabsorption syndromes are sometimes seen in some individuals. It is caused due to absence of certain enzymes which make digestion of gluten and dairy products hard or impossible. In such a case, abdominal cramps or vomiting are often seen and it is likely that your child has such a condition. However, the test will help me in detecting the problem. The requirement for clinical evaluation comes thereafter but let us go step by step.

I would await your response.
