Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Prostate

default
Posted on Thu, 18 Dec 2014
Question: Do I need a re-lacer operation? I am showing symptoms of an enlarge prostate like going more often to the bathroom and getting out at night more than usual.
I am 82 years old but am still physically active. I have had some nervous complaints and are taking apo-candesartan for blood pressure.

Brief Answer:
Tests necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. If it is benign prostatic hypertrophy, as previously, laser surgery might be needed. Tests are necessary for confirmation.

2. BPH would not increase again so rapidly and an ultrasound is necessary for confirmation.

3. PSA should not increase. If its more than 4.0, get an ultrasound as early as possible to rule out prostatic carcinoma. Also an urine examination to rule out any infection.

4. Medications should not cause these symptoms, unless recently started.

Meet your doctor to get the tests done and based on tests further opinion is possible.

Any further queries, happy to help again.
