Brief Answer:
Encopresis

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

Encopresis is a very difficult problem to overcome. Usually it means retraining your grandson on doing bowel movements daily. One method is to give castor oil in orange juice. It will take anywhere for 3-6 tablespoons to cause regular Bowel movements. You have have him drink the juice in the evening and he should then sit down on the toilet until he has a bowel movement. Once he starts having regular bowel movements in the morning then slowly reduce the amount of castor oil. This will allow his bowels to be retrained. It might be best to try this in the summer when he can have more time in the morning to sit on the toilet and prevent any accidents at school.

I hope this helps. You may look at the XXXXXXX academy of family physicians web site for other suggests and recommendations. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
