Suggest Treatment For Double Vision
Evaluation needed, thyroid origin possible.
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Diplopia (double vision) can have different causes. It may be due to brain lesions (stroke, aneurysm, tumor etc), damage to peripheral nerves (due to diabetes, trauma etc), conditions affecting junction between nerve and muscle like myasthenia gravis or conditions affecting the muscles themselves like thyroid dysfunction.
Now evaluation to search for the cause should start with a neurogical physical exam in order to search for other possible neurological signs you might have missed which could direct towards one cause or another and determine further tests (MRI, EMG, blood tests etc). For the moment I would say from the present info that the fact that it appears upon awakening would point towards a thyroid related issue, it is a typical feature for thyroid conditions.
I remain at your disposal for other questions.
Unlikely but possible
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the additional information.
The fact that it appears only after lying down and later on resolves doesn't fit with the traumatic possibility, would be present all the time. However symptoms are not always textbook like, if there is a clear relationship in time between the symptom and the accident, if symptoms appear suddenly right after the accident, then it would be a possible cause.
