Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017
Question: Every few months I have a week of dizziness, diarrhea (sometimes w/ blood), light stomach discomfort, and fatigue. It comes and goes without warning, and started after my son was born almost four years ago. Any ideas what I am suffering from?

Brief Answer:
Possible IBS

Detailed Answer:
HI.
I am Dr Mittal, I have read your message, I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of IBS D.
This is a problem where you will have recurrent episodes of stomach symptoms. Your vertigo is probably secondary to diarrhoea.
The other possibility is IBD. This is possible because it has most of the symptoms of IBS along with blood in stools.
You will need to test a ultrasound of the abdomen, stool routine, and colonoscopy.
The results of the tests will guide the medicines.
Meanwhile , you may start with high fiber diet, high fluid intake and isapghulla husk 3 tsf at bedtime with curds.
Try to note if this happens after intake of any specific food or after eating outside. that may give a clue to food allergy and infections.
Let us know when you get the reports .
Best of luck, Dr Mittal
