Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Severe Cramps

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: I have had diarrhea for the last two weeks. It has come on sudden. It is first thing in the morning every morning like clockwork, and some days it happens a dozen times a day. There has been no cramps and it comes on with no warning. Last night I started having seepage. And had an accident today where I didn't make it in time to the toilet. I am a 46 year old relatively healthy female. I have had the small intestinal bacterial overgrowth 3 times in my life before, but all those times I had severe cramps, and the diarrhea was somewhat formed. This time it is straight liquid, sometimes like colored water, with occasional thin particles.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be secretory diarrhoea

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Going by description of watery stools and non crampy loose stools its likely to be secretory diarrhoea. Loose stools either occur due to increased intestinal movements which reduce the time for absorption and hence cause loose stools which is uaully associated with cramps
or
due to increased secretion of intestinal contents causing watery stools. Increased secretion is likely to be due to enteric infection. If there is absence of fever and blood in stools then there is no cause for concern.

Apart from antidiarrhoeal i would suggest you to take probiotics which will be really helpful. Also do maintain hydration by adequate intake of oral rehydration solution.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you

Take Care
