Question: Hello: I just had a major bowel problem - diarrhea, large amount, dark, and with a noticeable amount of blood. I have never had this happen before. I recently had a colonoscopy. Diverticulosis discovered with 2 polyps removed in the upper tract. My gut was gurgling loudly before the episode. Should I call my physician now or see if bleeding occurs again?

Brief Answer:
You need not call your physician. Its better to get a specialist opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

In case of diverticulosis bleeding with stool is not unusual. Unless something is done about it I would not really be surprised if bleeding recurs. Rather than calling your physician, I would rather prefer fixing an appointment with a gastroenterologist.

Hope that helps.
