Brief Answer: Diabetes - Three simple things to do Detailed Answer: Dear sir Welcome to healthcare magic Let me put your question like this, what is diabetes, how to control it?? Diabetes is a condition in which a person exerts various degrees of glucose intolerance. There will be increased fasting and post prandial blood glucose levels. If not brought in control at a right time, it will cause various micro vascular and macro vascular complications. In the earlier stages, it is advised physical activity and exercise as the first line of treatment for all diabetes patients. Physical activity at least 150 min per week is recommended. Restriction of oil and junk foods are recommended. Food which contains high calories needs to be avoided so that the glucose peaks after food will be less. One unfortunate thing about the disease is you cannot cure it permanently, but surely you can bring it under control. If you have any more questions, you are always welcome. Hope this answer is helpful. Thanks

Brief Answer: Medicines is based on invidual compliance Detailed Answer: Dear sir There is no such things that mediines should be taken always. As the blood sugars are variable, each times medicines will change if the blood sugars are not in control. But in type 2 diabetes the basic problem is insulin resistance, so metformin is recommended always if there is no allergies and contraindications. If there is deficiency in the insulin secretion then secretogogues or insulin is recommended.. So for most of the times the recommended drug is metformin, 500 mg usually started once a day and then gradually titrated upto 1000 mg two times a day. Hope this information is helpful Thanks

Brief Answer: Diabetes is an cardiovascular risk factor Detailed Answer: Dear sir Diabetes is the cause for one of the micro vascular complications which involves kidney, nerves and eyes. You can delay the progression of nephropathy, but you cannot stop it. By keeping good condition of sugars and blood pressure you can postpone the progression of nephropathy Monitoring serum creatinine and urine microalbumin will help in early detection Having one kidney definately increases the load of work, which can accelerate the progression but dont worry contro sugars and blood pressure. Hope I have answered you Thanks
