Brief Answer:
lamotrigine alone should work.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.

I have gone through your previous question which Dr. XXXXXXX has answered.

Your 19 year old son has depressive symptoms and has been hospitalised for mania in past. Thus he qualifies for diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

If he is in depressive phase now, lamotrigine alone should work.
If it does not work, then antidepressants (cymbalta) can be added.
Otherwise, unnecessary addition of antidepressants can destabilise his illness.

Has he taken any other medication in past?

I think you were about to give more details but could not complete your question for some reason.

Kindly reply back.
Take care.
Thanks.
